Dear Council, Board Members and Administrators:

I have recently learned that the City of Waukee is committing to the construction of a 200-acre recreation facility.  I strongly support the construction of such a facility for our children and our community.  There is a critical need for this facility to support local recreation activities such as Soccer, Baseball, Football, Softball, Basketball and Tennis.  Without this project, we will continue to fall farther and farther behind in meeting the needs of our children and our community.  It is unreasonable that our high school cannot even host a tennis program and, worse, we could lose other major sports due to a lack of proper facilities.

I am writing to ask the city to plan and budget for the development of this project.  Additionally, I am asking the Waukee School District to take an active role in funding the project.  When the local option sales tax referendum passed, the School Board made a commitment to help fund projects that would benefit Waukee students.  Clearly, this project will benefit the children attending Waukee schools.  Let’s work together to make sure Waukee meets the needs of its youth recreation programs.  Visit www.GETWYRD.org to learn more about the benefits this project can bring to our community.

This project cannot and should not wait.  It needs to be one of the top priorities for infrastructure development in our community.  Thank your for your support of this important project.

Sincerely,
